The Intercontinental Grand Stanford’s all-day café is best known for its value-for-money buffet offering, with stations that include a dedicated oyster bar where chefs shuck good quality (and usually Australian) bivalves to order. In addition, there are the occasional treats that you need to wait for – the roasted suckling pig being one; when it’s ready, follow the snaking queue that extends around the noodle and dim sum stations. Roast rib of beef and lamp chops are properly done, and the Indian curries rotate often – but there will always be some excellent naan, cumin-scented pappadums, and fragrant basmati rice. Desserts include freshly-made crepes, classic Chinese puddings, and an ice cream bar. Things can get hectic as diners jostle for the most popular items, but service is friendly and accommodating.
