Reminiscent of an old colonial-style outdoor café, The Veranda offers a traditional Portuguese a la carte menu that is popular with locals and tourists. The Veranda does one of the best poached bacalhau (Portuguese for cod) dishes in Macau; the duck fried rice is equally excellent. Another must-have is the traditional Portuguese dessert of serradura, which combines vanilla-whipped cream and crushed biscuits. The wine list is extensive, covers a variety of wine regions, and includes a number of choices from Portugal that can all be ordered by the glass. Although the café was slightly under-staffed, the waiters were attentive and the food arrived quickly.
