Quemo Opens in Wan Chai

Apr 03, 2013
A new Spanish restaurant by the owner of El Quim de la Boqueria in Barcelona opens at QRE Plaza

Dining complex QRE Plaza in Wan Chai has just welcomed a new member: Quemo, the new Spanish restaurant opened by Elite Concepts. Quemo boasts a casual atmosphere spread over several spaces, with a bar serving small bites, Spanish wines and sangria; a butcher corner displaying a selection of jamon and charcuterie; an indoor dining area with wooden communal table, and a outdoor terrace serving barbacoa, a type of Spanish barbecue. Signature dishes of the restaurant include a range of sharing plates such as paella, barbacoa baby lamb, cod ravioli, and Quim’s fried egg from the food market in Barcelona. Yes this dish is a nod to Quemo’s chef, Quim Marquez, the owner of El Quim de la Boqueria in Barcelona, who visited Hong Kong last year and was guest chef at its sister restaurant, 1/5 Nuevo in Wan Chai. Quemo in Spanish means “burning”, and let’s see if chef Marquez is going to heat up the dining scene with his first project in Hong Kong.
