The beauty of Hong Kong’s skyline is simply indisputable. Perched on the top floor of One Peking, this Penthouse restaurant allows diners indulge in the harbour view galore through its iconic floor-to-ceiling windows. With high ceilings, romantic light fixtures and uber-modern décor, couples will enjoy the tables by the window where they can get a front-row view of the stunning vista. Guests in big groups can opt for the tables at the back for more spacious seating and immerse amidst the vibrant club-like dining atmosphere.
Growing up in an international city like Hong Kong has spoiled gourmets with an abundant range of cuisines from worldwide. At Aqua, diners can enjoy unconventional Italian and Japanese flair from its two innovative menus, Aqua Roma and Aqua Tokyo.
While this crossover gastronomic experience may appeal to bigger groups of gourmets with different tastes, we decided to focus on the Italian dishes for the evening. Kick-starting the evening is the refreshing parma ham and arugula salad, the tender and creamy appetizer is well balanced by the rich Burrata cheese and artichoke aged balsamic caviar.
Moving onto mains, the grilled natural U.S. beef is a rich and delightful combination. The beef is succulent and cooked to perfection, with its flavours further enhanced by the three tantalizing sides of corn, arugula salad roasted potatoes. The pan fried scallops with sweet pork, pumpkin and black garlic cream is an innovative pairing, yet the scallops turned out to be rather blend. To finish, we went for one of the latest dessert creations by the chef, pumpkin ravioli with amaretto “biscotti”, vanilla ice cream mustard of Voghera and polenta sauce. We liked how this dish attempts to highlight the Italian appeal with the ravioli but it was on the chewy side, while the ice cream offers a playful and lingering taste.
Wine lovers will be delighted by the extensive wine menu, with quality drops from France, Spanish Australia, USA and more. Staffs are also happy to recommend ones to complement your meal.
Staff are friendly and welcoming, and there was no fuss in getting their attention despite the hectic traffic in the restaurant at evening.
A filling three-course meal for two with one glass of wine each and service will come to HK$1,877, which is reasonable considering it was a memorable evening with spectacular vista and quality dishes delivered by fast-rate service.
