Nestled on the fourth floor of the Sheraton Hotel amidst the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui, this steakhouse occupies a long and narrow dining space with large windows along the Salisbury Road side. Decked out dark sofas, chandeliers and embellished carpets, the restaurant offers an old world’s charm with sleek and minimalist ambiance. Known for its mesmerising harbour front views, the restaurant is a popular spot for businessmen and couples.
At Morton’s, the menu celebrates a premium range of steak and seafood offerings. For appetiser, we started with the acclaimed jumbo lump crab cake, which is a heavenly blend of generous and succulent crab meat, bound together with breadcrumbs, mayonnaise and spices. It offers rich texture and tantalising tastes in a good portion.
We also shared one portion of baked five onion soup which was overly rich and on the salty side. Taking center stage for mains in this classic American restaurant is no doubt the wide range of fine steak cuts.
The 24 oz porterhouse is one of its signatures, which boast tender texture as well as powerful and juicy flavours of this dish. There is a wide array of sides available on the menu, which range from steamed jumbo asparagus to Chicago style horseradish mashed potatoes.
We went for the tantalising option of parmesan & truffle matchstick fries, which came in a very generous option that can feed 3 to 4 people easily. These crispy and skinny fries serve as a good complement to the tender beef dish.
For dessert, we went for the restaurant’s iconic sundae, in which sweet tooth can expect a large scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate lava cake all nestled under decadent whipped cream.
The restaurant offers a diverse wine list with producers from worldwide and more common options, and with a good range of by-the-glass collection. Their sommelier team has no trouble in recommending quality wine to complement specific dishes.
Service is accommodating and thorough, from helping us to pull out our heavy sofa chairs, offering detailed recommendations of the menu to the end of the meal.
Dinner for two is approximately HK$2,336 with the bulk of that paying for the high quality produce and generous portions which really make a meal at Morton’s of Chicago memorable.
