New Furusato, the Hotel Lisboa’s high-end Japanese restaurant, is located on the second floor next door to the Portas do Sol. The restaurant offers guests a number of dining options including teppanyaki, sushi and tempura in an elegant and tranquil setting. The room itself has a relaxing atmosphere with the distinguished air of Japanese fine dining about it.
Offering a large selection of different set menus and chefs recommendations the set up at New Furusato allow diners to sample the full range of different Japanese cuisine styles. The quality set lunches – which include teppanyaki, sushi and noodles – are definitely worth visiting for. There are also some special kaiseki set menus, including some sushi-, tempura- and vegetarian-focused feasts. Start with the deluxe assorted sashimi, an excellent selection of jet-fresh seafood, including Hokkaido sea urchins, sea angle horse mackerel, and botan shrimps. Deep-fried black pork mille-feuille is one of the signature dishes from this restaurant, and for good reason: the black pork from Portugal is crisp, nicely seasoned and full of flavour. Our tip: order this dish with added black truffles for that decadent touch.
New Furusato, being part of the Lisboa group, has access to the hotel’s award-winning wine list, which includes a good selection of sake in a variety of sizes. From the manager’s choice at affordable prices, the chilled Dassai Junmaiginjo Migaki is enjoyable.
The restaurant staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. The service is a little slow at the beginning, but quickly recovered to ensure that the diners had a good experience.
Expect to pay between MOP700 and MOP 1,000 per person. The value added quality set lunches, which include teppanyaki, sushi and noodles, are definitely worth a visit.
