Nestled on the third floor of the Grand Lisboa hotel, The Kitchen features an open kitchen, sushi bar, salad buffet and private rooms, with the main dining room having a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The room has an air of fine dining with handsome solid woods, gleaming marble and soft lighting. Elegant chinaware, refined glassware, silver condiment sets and cutlery complete the lavish tabletop.
The Kitchen is known primarily for its rich variety of prime steaks, sushi and seafood dishes. The bread is very good and baked to order in generous portions, so it arrives baking hot to the table and is served with French butter. There is a good selection of appetisers to choose from, including the very tempting salad bar or jet-fresh sushi or sashimi from the bar. One of The Kitchen’s signature dishes, the lobster tempura roll with avocado, is fresh and succulent. The Jewish mother’s pizza is not your everyday sort of pizza and is ideal for a group of friends as the portion is fairly large. For the extensive and appetising menu, there is a good selection of the best beef from around the world with Japan, wagyu from Australia and US prime beef, all cooked to perfection over an open flame in the live kitchen.
The wine list is from Robuchon au Dôme, which has around 14,300 labels from the around the world and received the Wine Spectator's “Grand Award” for having one of the best wine lists in the world. Wines are served from the Riedel’s sommeliers range.
The service is quick, friendly and competent. Attentive without being intrusive, waitstaff know the menu and wine list well and can offer suggestions.
The Kitchen can be very expensive if money is no object, with a dinner for two including drinks easily costing over MOP700 per person, but the set lunches ranging from MOP300 to MOP490 is extremely good value.
